The Scout Section is for young people,
usually aged between 10½ and 14 years. A young person can come in to the Troop at 10 and may stay until
they are 15 years old.
Scouts are encouraged to take
part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme.
"Participation" rather than meeting set standards is the key approach.
Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live,
encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop
their creative talents.
Being outdoors is important and half the Programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional
Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities,
anything from abseiling to yachting.

The Birchbark is the Enfield district's annual camping and hiking competition which is highly valued within the Scout section
as it has been going since the early 1940’s.This year’s birchbark was held at Fairmeads Bottom campsite, in High Beach, Essex.
The Scouts arrived on Friday evening keen and in good humour, all the Scouts managed to get their tents up in time to make some plaster casts
ready for a patrol challenge on Saturday. The patrols all camped to a very high standard and the food was excellent, they cooked a breakfast on Saturday
morning, and then made on camp a Spanish omelette for lunch, and for evening dinner they produced a 3 course meal including a fish starter.
On Saturday we had four patrol bases, one was build a shelter, one navigation exercise, painting plaster casts, and backwoods cooking.
In the evening the patrols had to perform a patrol stunt and were judged on it. The humour was very good from camp fire songs to magic tricks, and drama acting. Well done to the winners who were 12th Enfield with the 2nd Enfield as runners up
